DuPont™ CommercialWrap®

Air and Water Insulating Building Envelope

DuPont™ Tyvek® CommercialWrap® is an air and water barrier applied on to the exterior façade of the building composed of a tough, spun bonded polyethylene membrane with microscopic pores that resist bulk water and air penetration, while allowing moisture vapor to pass through.

The unique non-woven structure of DuPont™ Tyvek® CommercialWrap® provides water resistance. Its vapor permeability allows harmful moisture vapor to escape the wall cavity, while protecting it against air and bulk water intrusion. This building wrap can hold up to the rigors of a commercial job site because of its increased tear-strength, durability and ability to withstand a UV exposure for up to 270 days.

DuPont™ Tyvek® CommercialWrap® is designed to integrate seamlessly under a wide variety of commercial façades including: stucco, stone, marble, steel panels, brick, granite and EIFS (synthetic stucco).

Interior (cavity) Insulation

The interior insulation wall design has the thermal insulation within the wall cavity, i.e. the batt insulation within the stud cavity. DuPont™ Tyvek® CommercialWrap® is installed on the exterior face of the exterior sheathing to help prevent bulk water penetration and help reduce air flow.

Exterior Insulation

The thermal insulation is placed outside the wall cavity, with rigid insulation outside of the exterior sheathing (more commonly used in cold climates). In this instance, DuPont™ Tyvek® CommercialWrap® can be either sandwiched between the exterior sheathing and the exterior rigid insulation, or outside of the exterior rigid insulation, depending on whether the insulating materials are sensitive to water or air flow.

Composite (Interior & Exterior Insulation)

Composite, or combination, wall design includes both batt insulation and rigid exterior insulation. DuPont™ Tyvek® CommercialWrap® can be installed between the exterior sheathing and the exterior rigid insulation
